5 SIDED CARTONS ARE POSSIBLE WITH U-E-T

July 27, 2007

Being adaptable nowadays is of paramount importance and U-E-T have stepped up to the mark with their flexible compact cartoning machine.  Drawing an overwhelming crowd at the TOTAL Processing & Packaging Show in May, potential customers were pleased with what they saw – compact, adaptable, operator friendly and priced right.  The combination of which resulted in the machine exhibited being sold to contract packers Laleham Healthcare.

Since its installation Don Johnson, Production & Engineering Manager, has been very pleased with their U-E-T and has said “it is perfect as the core of our business is flexibility”.  With ever changing customer needs this machine can be easily adjusted to accommodate any job.  Already with some minor adjustments to the carton infeed and exit, of which no change parts were required, Laleham Healthcare are able to run 5 sided cartons.

LARGE COST SAVINGS FOR POT NOODLE SACHETS

July 20, 2007

Pot Noodle Sachets

By replacing previous sachet machinery 2 years ago, Unilever Bestfoods have recouped the original cost of their Boato Pack Sachet Machines through significant material cost savings, reduced wastage & labour whilst improving their line speed and efficiencies.

Unilever Bestfoods purchased 2 x 6 lane Boato Pack Tornado machines in 2005 for the production of four side seal sachets filled with liquids. These machines run at 90 sachets per minute and feed into 4 x Mitsuhashi boxing lines, also supplied through Springvale Equipment.  The filled sachets leave the Tornado cut into vertical strips which are then folded neatly into boxes by the Mitsuhashi using a clever sychronized operation of winding and traversing.  From here they are then transported to another Unilever factory where a further 2 Mitsuhasi machines are feeding the sachets from the box into the individual pot noodle pots along with the noodles.

The large material cost savings have come by using a significantly thinner micron material which wasn’t an option on their previous machine.  In fact Unilever Bestfoods have been able to drop from using a 50 micron film to a 38 micron film on their Boato Pack, Tornado.

Unilever awarded the contract to oversee the purchase of this equipment to a major project management company who have stated how smoothly the project went and are delighted with the equipment installed.
